Associate Director – Partnership for a Secure America
Location: Partnership for a Secure America 2000 P Street, NW, Suite 505 Washington, DC 20036 URL: Details: Associate Director – Partnership for a Secure America The Partnership for a Secure America is looking for a dynamic self-starter for a full-time position as Associate Director to help manage all aspects of a growing nonprofit organization in the field of national security and foreign policy. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Associate Director oversees the day-to-day functioning of PSA while helping to create and execute a strategic long-range vision and plan for the organization.
The Associate Director will:
Supervise employees and manage all ongoing PSA projects; Work closely with Advisory Board and Board of Directors members; Provide vision for and initiate PSA statements and projects; Coordinate and implement fundraising strategies and grant proposals; Organize PSA media outreach and talk to press about PSA projects; Represent PSA at events and meetings with the government and private sector; Contribute to the PSA blog, “Across the Aisle.” An ideal candidate will have the following background and qualities:
Strong self-starter and creative, independent thinker; Graduate degree strongly preferred; Minimum of five years working on national security and foreign policy issues; Minimum of two years direct management experience; Experience working on the Hill or directly with Congress; Experience with writing and managing grants; Experience with program management; Excellent written and oral communications skills; Strong commitment to PSA’s bipartisan principles.

Background

Since its public launch in August 2005, PSA has spoken out on an array of important issues, including WMD terrorism, climate change, torture, U.S.-Russian Relations, UN Reform, Darfur, and energy security. The PSA Advisory Board is chaired by former Senator Warren Rudman (R-NH) and former Congressman Lee Hamilton (D-IN) and includes six former Senators, four former National Security Advisors, one former Secretary of State, one former Secretary of Defense, three former UN Ambassadors and a former Governor.
