Daisy Alliance Interview with Richard Garwin

Website Description: Renowned physicist, Richard L. Garwin, is a recipient of the National Medal of Science, the nation's highest honor in science and engineering. Dr. Garwin designed the first hydrogen bomb while working under Dr. Edward Teller at Los Alamos. Although Dr. Garwin is a continuing contributor to military technology, he is an outspoken advocate of nuclear arms control. In this interview, he describes his role in developing the hydrogen bomb and shares his views on Anti-Ballistic Missile systems, the future of nuclear power, and the threat of terrorist use of nuclear weapons acquired from North Korea, Pakistan, or Russia. He also discusses the "Reykjavik-2" initiative, a renewed vision of a world free of nuclear weapons that was shared by President Ronald Reagan and General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev during their 1986 summit in Reykjavik, Iceland.
