Tony Rutkowski is currently the VP for Regulatory Affairs
and Standards at VeriSign - a leading global provider of trusted infrastructure
services for telecommunication, content, Internet, and ECommerce sectors. In that capacity, he develops, coordinates,
files, and articulates VeriSign regulatory and strategic technical interests in
governmental and industry forums worldwide, as well as provides regulatory
counsel to the company.
He is also a member of the Geneva-based International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General's High Level Experts Group for
Cybersecurity and is a Distinguished Fellow, at Georgia Tech's Nunn Center for
International Strategy Technology and Policy, where he regularly lectures.
He actively participates in numerous international and
domestic technical and legal global forums dealing with Identity Management,
Next Generation Networks, National Security, Critical Infrastructure
Protection, and Law Enforcement Support.
He was chair of the ITU-T Focus Group on Identity Management's
Requirements Working Group that developed the first global compendium of the
Law of Identity Management, and was recently appointed as the co-editor of the
new ITU-T standard on Identity Management
Requirements for Trust and Interoperability.
He is an lawyer-engineer with a 45 year career as a highly
visible and well-known global enterprise strategist, public official,
organization leader, consultant, lecturer, and author in both the Internet and
telecom worlds, in the U.S. and internationally. Positions include:
