Science and Society: Grand Challenges Managing a Pandemic

DC Sponsored by: The American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Georgetown University Program on Science in the Public Interest and the Smithsonian's Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation are co-sponsoring a discussion series "Science & Society: Grand Challenges". No powerpoint. No notes. Just candid conversations with leading scientists, economists, and politicians hosted by award-winning NPR reporter Joe Palca.
The events will be held every Monday night in November from 6pm to 7:30pm in the AAAS Auditorium at 1200 New York Avenue. A reception will start at 5pm.
November 19th's discussion will be about "Managing a Pandemic" and will feature Rajeev Venkayya, former Special Assistant to the President for Biodefense, and Julie Fischer, a Senior Associate at the Henry L. Stimson Center.
The first discussion was on "Climate Change", the second was on "Meeting Global Energy Demand" and the last will be on "Containing the Spread of WMDs".
