Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics



Based on the need of national security and progress of international arms control, the institute conducts broad academic research and communication. The Program for Science and National Security Studies (PSNSS)was formed to strengthen communications both nationally and internationally. The institute sends experts to international arms control negotiations to provide technical supports to the Chinese government. The institute also takes some responsibility in organizing, coordinating and managing relevant programs of verification technology in arms control fields. The main areas of study include:
◆ Nuclear strategy and nuclear policy
◆ Numerical simulation on strategic confrontation, conflicts and balance
◆ National and international security, non-proliferation and missile defense
◆ Monitoring technology, on-site inspection technology and methodology of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty
◆ Numerical simulation of detection of nuclear materials and relevant nuclear devices
◆ Numerical calculation on transportation of radionuclides in the atmosphere
◆ Fissionable materials and nuclear weapons
◆ Database on arms control science and technology
