Biodefense - George Mason University

The Biodefense Graduate Program in the Department of Public and International Affairs offers MS and PhD degree programs in biodefense. Our unique program provides students with a foundation in microbiology and biotechnology combined with a broader security and organizational context. Students have the opportunity to specialize in the fields of international security and homeland security. The goal of the program is to educate the next generation of biodefense and biosecurity

professionals and scholars who are capable of assessing the risks posed by natural and man-made biological threats, developing strategies for reducing these risks, and bridging the gap between science and policy at the local, Federal, and international levels. The Biodefense Program already has over 100 alumni working for government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private firms.
