Required / Desired Criteria
The Strategic Studies Department is seeking an analyst with training and experience in understanding, communicating, and influencing the interactions between technology and national security policies. The candidate should have at least a Master's degree, PhD prefered, in a relevant social science or public policy field. Experience working in an area of policy studies in which science and technology play a significant role is required. Familiarity with national security policies, their evolution, and the organizations that influence their formation is highly desirable. Frequent interactions with Sandia staff will be expected, and experience in working interactively with scientists and engineers will be a definite plus. The ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams is required, as is skill in oral presentation and working effectively in a self-directed, sometimes ill-defined environment. Excellent writing skills are essential. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy security clearance is required.

The Strategic Studies Department in the Institutional Development Center of Sandia National Laboratories (Albuquerque, NM) is seeking an analyst to address topics at the nexus of science, technology, and national security policies Department Description
Sandia's mission is to bring science and technology to bear to meet national needs in four key areas: Nuclear Weapons - ensuring the stockpile is safe, secure, reliable, and can support the United States' deterrence policy; Energy, Resources and Nonproliferation - enhancing the surety of energy and other critical infrastructures; supporting national arms control and nonproliferation policies; Defense Systems & Assessments -addressing new threats to national security; Homeland Security & Defense -helping to protect our nation against terrorism. Sandia National Laboratories) Fellowship - Critical Studies of Science and Technology Policy (In summer 2008, the Social Science Research Council will sponsor twelve (12) Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowships in the field of Critical Studies of Science and Technology Policy, with an emphasis on comparative and international topics. These fellowships will fund participating graduate students at US universities to pursue predissertation summer research and to attend two integrated workshops designed to prepare them to learn and explore research and dissertation proposal development strategies in STS and closely related fields.
Except in unique circumstances, applicants should be in their second or third year of PhD programs and must not yet have defended their dissertation prospectus prior to attending the workshops. The Partnership for a Secure America (PSA) is looking for an experienced, energetic individual to serve as Program Manager.
PSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to recreating the bipartisan center in American national security and foreign policy.
To achieve these ends, PSA:
Develops and seeks bipartisan consensus on a series of national security and foreign policy issues; Works to build coalitions to support recreating the bipartisan center in American national security and foreign policy; Conducts national earned and paid media campaigns using the most sophisticated communication tools based on joint, bipartisan positions. The Program Manager will:

Since its public launch in August 2005, PSA has spoken out on an array of important issues, including terrorism, torture, homeland security, UN Reform, Darfur, and energy security. The PSA Advisory Board, which serves as the soul and mouthpiece of the organization and is chaired by Senator Rudman and Congressman Hamilton, includes a bipartisan group of 24 highly distinguished foreign policy officials from previous administrations.
